Test results detect zero harmful PFAS chemicals

As headlines swirl around major baby wipe brands facing class action lawsuits for allegedly containing toxic “forever chemicals” known as PFAS, Natracare, an environmentally conscious company and maker of the first certified compostable brand of period products, announces its lab results. Independent testing to EN 17681-2:2022, ISO 23702-1:2023 and EN 17681-1:2025 standards analyzed Natracare Baby Wipes against 175 types of PFAS. The result: Zero trace. A clean slate. “When it comes to what touches a baby’s skin, there should never be shortcuts allowing for forever chemicals to be used,” says Susie Hewson, founder of Natracare. “Parents need assurances that the products they choose for their babies and children are safe, not compromising health or our environment.” This announcement comes as Pennsylvania lawmakers work to push forward House Bill 2238, aiming to ban PFAS in consumer products like baby wipes. PennEnvironment, a statewide advocacy group, leads the charge to end toxic exposure at the most vulnerable stages of life. “We all have PFAS in our bloodstream,” Hewson says, “and they are a ticking time bomb. PFAS are in everything from water bottles, to pizza boxes, to personal care products, to the water that cleans our produce and cooks our food. We must educate ourselves and choose our products wisely. We also need to question current legislation and demand increased regulation.” Recent lawsuits filed in the U.S. claim that baby wipe brands misled consumers by advertising their products as “gentle” and “safe,” while failing to disclose the presence of PFAS chemicals linked to cancer, hormone disruption and reproductive harm. Natracare has always understood that “natural” ought to mean nontoxic. The brand’s baby wipes are certified organic, EWG verified, plastic-free, biodegradable and now validated PFAS-free, bringing relief to parents searching for a better choice. “We’ve been warning about PFAS in personal care and in our environment for years,” Hewson says. “Now, with our lab results in hand, we’re doubling down: Natracare wipes are as clean as a baby’s bottom.”
